Though the Harvey Weinstein scandal has stolen the spotlight, sexual harassment in the workplace is not a new issue in American society. But, it is a persistent one.
According to new Exclusive Third Rail with OZY-Marist Poll findings, 87% of Americans believe that workplace sexual harassment is a problem. Included are 42% of Americans who think it is a big problem. As the Poll Hub team discusses, that proportion has increased by more than two to one over the past thirty years.
But, Americans do not think sexual harassment is a fait accompli. Nearly seven in ten Americans, 69%, say sexual harassment is not inevitable. And, this is an issue on which both men and women agree.
So, what needs to be done to combat the issue? The Poll Hub team flushes out the poll findings and discusses the steps Americans think need to be taken to correct the problem.
Then, a very special interview with noted author, journalist, and editor Ray Robinson.
Since the beginning of the NFL season, much attention has been given to the controversial national anthem protests carried out by many of the players to highlight racial injustice in the United States.
But, like sexual harassment, racial discrimination in sports is not a new topic.
In Poll Hub’s interview with Robinson, he discusses the current controversy, what makes the national anthem protests unique, and why the nation has not seen the end of these demonstrations. Plus, the 96-year old Robinson has the unique perspective to put the controversy into historical context.
Seven decades after Jackie Robinson (no relationship to Ray Robinson) broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball, Robinson shares his first-hand recollections of that tumultuous time in sports history and what it was like to watch Jackie Robinson play ball. He also shares his personal experiences with Jackie Robinson, including a few sets of tennis he played with the man who was best known for his baseball prowess.
Full disclosure, Ray Robinson has a special connection with one of the Poll Hub hosts. Find out which one in this episode of Poll Hub.
