NYS Poll: Voters Want Further Probe of Governor

62% of registered voters think there should be an additional inquiry beyond the New York State Attorney General’s report into what Governor Spitzer knew when his top aides misused the state police to gather information about Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno. 33% think the Attorney General’s report should end the discussion, and 5% are unsure. A majority of Democrats, Republicans, and independents believe the issue should be further investigated.

What’s the Skinny on Happiness? Exactly That … Being Thin

Many people in the New York area think the secret to happiness and success in life is being thin: 62% of adults living in the New York metropolitan area think people who are thin are more likely to be happier than people who are overweight, and 70% believe those who are thin are more likely to be successful in life. This view is shared by men and women, young and old alike. Even a majority of people who consider themselves to be overweight think a person who is thin is more likely to be happier and more successful than someone who isn’t.

Michael Bloomberg receives his highest approval rating as mayor: 66% of New York City voters rate the job Mayor Bloomberg is doing as excellent or good. 21% of city voters rate the mayor’s job performance as excellent, 45% as good, 22% as fair, and 8% as poor. Although Mayor Bloomberg has been rated highly since his re-election in 2005, this is his highest combined excellent and good score.

No Easy Pass for Mayor’s Traffic Congestion Plan

Residents in New York City and its surrounding suburbs oppose the mayor’s traffic congestion plan: 61% of residents in the New York metropolitan area oppose Mayor Bloomberg’s traffic congestion plan which would charge most drivers to enter Manhattan on weekdays. Residents both inside the city and the surrounding counties in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut oppose the plan. Only residents in Manhattan divide on the issue. 48% of Manhattan residents support the plan, and 46% oppose it.
