Democrat Jon Corzine has pulled ahead of his Republican opponent Doug Forrester by 10 points among New Jersey voters likely to vote on Election Day. Earlier this month, Corzine and Forrester were neck and neck. Now, Corzine receives the support of 50% of likely voters compared with 40% for Forrester. One percent mentions another candidate, and 9% are undecided. When undecided voters are asked which candidate they are leaning toward, the margin separating the candidates remains at 10 points with 51% for Jon Corzine and 41% for Doug Forrester. 7% of likely voters are still undecided.
National Poll: Is America Ready for a Woman President?

Voters divide over whether they would support a woman nominated by one of the two major political parties for president. 26% of registered voters say they are likely to support a woman for president regardless of whether she is a Democrat or a Republican. At the other extreme, 28% would not support a woman for the United States’ top job regardless of which political party nominated her. 25% would support a woman if she became the Democratic nominee for president, and 21% would support her if she were the Republican nominee.

Michael Bloomberg outdistances his Democratic opponent former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer by 27 points. This is an increase of 12 points in the mayor’s lead since a similar poll conducted two weeks ago. The mayor receives the support of 59% of city voters likely to vote in November compared with 32% for Ferrer. One percent of likely voters plan to support Conservative Party candidate Thomas Ognibene, and 8% are undecided.

Jon Corzine and Doug Forrester are in a statistical dead heat among New Jersey voters likely to vote on Election Day. Corzine receives the support of 44% of likely voters compared with 43% for Doug Forrester. 13% are undecided. When undecided voters are asked which candidate they are leaning toward, the results become 47% for Jon Corzine and 45% for Doug Forrester. 8% of likely voters remain undecided.
